📌 Background
The project goals were to:
- Establish reliable water infrastructure for both farm and domestic use,
- Deploy efficient irrigation systems to maximize agricultural output,
- Integrate renewable solar energy for water pumping,
- Provide safe drinking water treatment,
- And install robust fencing and deterrent systems to safeguard the farm.
After technical surveys and design consultations, Champion Engineering Ltd executed a turnkey project that combined water, solar, treatment, irrigation, and fencing systems into a sustainable solution for the Kenyan highlands.
🛠️ Scope of Work
🚰Fabrication & Installation of Steel Water Tank + Tower
- Designed, fabricated, and installed a 10,000-litre steel water tank mounted on a 10-meter-high steel tower.
- Applied anti-corrosive coating and anchored the tower on reinforced foundations.
✅ Result: Stable and elevated storage providing gravity-fed water distribution throughout the Kenyan farm.
💧Construction of Water Reservoir & Intake Works
- Excavated and lined a raw water reservoir to secure additional water storage.
- Installed intake structures to regulate water flows safely.
✅ Result: A sustainable raw water source for irrigation and household treatment in Chepilat, Kenya.
⚙️Pumping System Installation & Solarization
- Installed a high-capacity submersible pump at the intake structure.
- Automated the system with float switches for efficient tank refilling.
- Solarized the system using Kenya’s abundant sunlight with PV panels, inverter, and controller.
✅ Result: An energy-independent pumping system powered entirely by solar energy.
🏢Construction of Pump Controller Enclosure
- Built a secure masonry enclosure to house the pump controller, inverter, and monitoring panels.
- Designed with lockable access, weatherproofing, and ventilation.
✅ Result: Protection of critical equipment from Kenya’s varying weather conditions and unauthorized access.
🔒Solar Panel Security Fencing
- Installed a burglar-proof steel fence around the solar array.
- Reinforced with secure access gates for maintenance.
✅ Result: The solar farm remains safe and efficient, even in remote Kenyan locations.
🔗Installation of Pipeline Network
- Laid HDPE pipelines from the reservoir to the elevated tank and across the farm.
- Conducted thorough pressure testing for durability.
✅ Result: A reliable water transfer system serving every section of the farm.
🌾On-Farm Water Distribution System
- Designed a zoning network for efficient irrigation management.
- Installed valves to regulate flow across the farm’s different cultivation blocks.
✅ Result: Reliable, even water delivery throughout the farm in Chepilat.
💦Irrigation System Installation
- Installed a hybrid irrigation system combining drip irrigation and sprinklers.
- Configured to suit soil conditions and crop types typical of Kenya’s highland farms.
✅ Result: Water savings with maximized crop productivity.
🚰Reverse Osmosis (RO) Water Treatment System
- Installed a reverse osmosis water treatment unit for safe household use.
- Included multi-stage filtration, RO membranes, and UV sterilization.
✅ Result: The client enjoys clean, potable water in line with WHO standards — a key health improvement in rural Kenya.
🪵Fencing & Deterrent Solutions
- Clear View Fence: Installed around the property perimeter for strength and visibility-PHOTOS 21-23
- Electric Deterrent Fence: Added on top for intrusion prevention.-PHOTO 24
- Floodlights: Solar-powered floodlights positioned to light dark zones at night.-PHOTO 24
- Automated Gate: Motorized gate for secure and convenient entry.
✅ Result: Strong fencing and deterrent systems secured the Kenyan farm and all new infrastructure.
